George Wesley Thompson, 84, of Kent, Washington, passed away on December 2, 2018 in Renton, Washington. He was born May 5, 1934 in Champaign, Illinois. He moved to Federal Way, Washington while he was in high school, where he graduated in 1953. George served in the Air Force 1955-1957 and worked at Pacific Car & Foundry for 18 year until retirement. He married Kathryn Ann Thompson (nee Simons) on March 12, 1958.
George loved his family gatherings and spending time with the grandkids.
George and Kathy enjoyed taking drives together. George was a big, strong man that loved the outdoors. He loved to chop wood, camp and hobby farm. He enjoyed sports, loved the Seahawks and never missed his son Dan’s football games and wrestling tournaments. He was a regular fan at all his grandchildren’s, niece’s and nephew’s sports too. He was a dedicated recycler and was always tinkering and taking things apart.
George is survived by his wife Kathryn, his: Mark (Julie) Thompson of Wenatchee, Phil Thompson of Kent, and Daniel (Tamie) of Kent, four grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, Brittney, and Caitlin, eight great grandchildren: Alycia, James, Taylor, Cavan, Paisley, Barrett, Wyatt, and Emberly, and brothers Phillip (Darlene) Thompson of Maple Valley and John Thompson of Oregon.
George’s family invites his friends and family to a memorial service scheduled for Saturday, January 5 at 1 PM at Edline-Yahn & Covington Funeral Chapel in Kent, Washington. There will be a reception immediately following the memorial service in the Atrium of the funeral home.
