At the age of 12 she helped with the war effort by getting a job at a textile company in Downtown Kent. She attended Meridian High School where she enjoyed drama, was the lead in her school play and a “Yell Leader” (Cheerleader). Alma’s love for music began in Berrydale, WA when she was a child where her mother pastored and led worship. Alma, and Ernie were married, June 14th, 1947, they were married for 73 years. In 1950, Alma and Ernie built their home in Kent, WA where they lived and raised their family.
