Barry James VanTrojen, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8th 2024. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. - 12:30: p.m. on Monday, April 22nd, 2024 at New Life Church, 15711 152nd Ave. S.E., Renton, WA with reception to follow 12:30 - 2:00 p.m.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents Charles (Bill) James VanTrojen and Ruby Evans and sibling William (Bill) VanTrojen.
Barry is survived by his wife Karen VanTrojen, son Troy VanTrojen, twin daughters Laura VanTrojen and Denise Dickinson, son-in-law Tim Dickinson, grandson Austin Dickinson and grandson Zachary Dickinson.
Barry was born in Hoquiam WA on June 19, 1939. He joined the Coast Guard after Cleveland High School graduation in 1958. His duty was relieving the lighthouse keepers in the San Francisco Bay area. After the military, Barry met Karen and they were married on July 11th, 1964. He became a Seattle Firefighter in 1967 spending most of his career as a driver at Station #26. He retired in 1993. He was involved with the Boy Scouts for many years, coached soccer and softball. He and the family resided in Kent for 41 years. Karen and Barry moved to Maple Valley in 2014.
