After they married Maynard was in the Army and was sent to Korea while Dona remained in Aberdeen South Dakota. Dona worked for the Kent School District as a teacher's aid, librarian, and with head start students. She so enjoyed working with kids of all ages including the time she was the lunchroom aid at Kentridge High School. She assisted in many different schools, after school programs supporting the children, and loved reading to the children.
Dona's favorite things were spending time with her family, camping with family and friends, and working with her flowers. She always had beautiful flowers that she tended to in the Spring and Summer and in the fall/winter time she loved jigsaw puzzles. Other activities were playing Bunco at the church with friends, spending time with her grandkids, and watching the Mariners and Seahawks on television with family.
