Helen Blessing of Kent Washington left for Heaven on August 15, 2020 at the age of 100.
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Born March 13, 1920 in Lewistown Montana to Claude and Rose Rhea. She grew up in Flatwillow Montana and the family moved to Algona Washington in 1934.
Helen graduated from Auburn High School in 1936 and from Secretarial School in Seattle. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold (1997) of 55 years and son James (2001) and sisters Rosalie Atkinson (2012) and Patricia Burke (1996).
Helen is survived by 3 daughters: Joyce (Fred) Berkland, Janet Abbott, Jeanne (Wendell) Wilkie; 5 grandchildren: Wendell John, Jennifer, Denise, David, and Michael; 11 great grandchildren: Destry, Marina, Dakota, Dustin, Gabe, Tyler, Isaac, Ethan, Winston, Kaliya, and Everly; also, 2 sisters, Clemence Baker, Virginia (Jack) Brooks, and many nieces and nephews.
Helen lived in Kent for 55 years, 18 years at Harrison House Apartments where she had many friends and joined the Computer Class learning to make birthday and anniversary cards for everyone, had fun with the Hula Dancing Class and enjoyed the Ceramics Group.
She was a member of Kent United Methodist Church, the retired persons bible study and Square Rooters Square Dance Club. Also enjoyed Bible Study Fellowship.
Among her many hobbies were reading, oil painting, and traveling. Trips to Germany, Paris, Honolulu, and Hong Kong as well as to the ocean and Mount Rainier.
She was always involved in her children’s activities as they were growing up-scouting, Cornucopia Parade costumes and making flowers for the floats.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends-especially family picnics and lunches with her sisters.
