Laura Marie Everett

Laura Marie Everett, 65 years of age, peacefully passed away in her sleep at home in Kent, WA on July 17, 2021.

Laura was born in 1955 in Kadena A.F.B., Okinawa, Japan.  She was the daughter of Norman and Sophie Newell.  Born into a military family, Laura moved many times in her young life to various countries and parts of the U.S. until finally moving to WA State with her family at age 18.  She attended Bellevue Community College taking courses in Early Childhood Education.  Laura married Matt in 1980.  Besides being a loving wife and mother of 2 children, Laura ran a daycare in her home and later worked for Bellevue School District teaching and caring for children.

Laura and her family belonged to St Stephens Catholic Church in Renton, WA for many years.  Throughout her life, she volunteered at her children’s schools and churches to assist where needed.  Laura loved traveling, especially with her grandchildren.  She loved music, was an avid reader and writer, including authoring a number of novels.

Laura is survived by her husband, Matt Everett, her daughter, Cresencia Everett-Zerr, her son, Derek Everett, her grandchildren, Sonnett, Ethan, Jaiden, Gideon, and Judith, her brother, Stephen Newell, her sister Mary Scheitlin, her nephew, Grant Scheitlin, and her niece, Stephanie Newell.

The funeral service will be held on August 4^th at 11:00 am at St Stephens Church at 13055 SE 192^nd St, Renton, WA.  The graveside service will be held immediately afterwards (approx. 1:30 pm) at Gethsemane Cemetery at 37600 Pacific Hwy S, Federal Way, WA.  Funeral arrangements are being managed by Edline-Yahn & Covington Funeral www.edline-yahn.com
