Peter Barger Dakan, age 78, passed away peacefully on Monday November 15, 2021 from congestive heart failure. He was at the side of his best friend and wife of 56 years in their Auburn, Washington home. He was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on December 21, 1942. Pete fought his health issues as he lived life, both honorably and defiantly. He was a very dedicated person in all aspects of his life, as a graduate of journalism and literature from West Virginia University, a Captain in the Air Force and proudly giving 27 years to The Boeing Company in PR as Director of Communications. He loved the game of golf, a good book and a great hand in poker. He was a man of few words so when he spoke it was worth the wait. He sacrificed for family and boy did he love an old car! Pete is survived by his wife, Carol Sharon Dakan, his two children, Trevelan Scot Dakan and Darcy Alaine Spence and her husband Daryn Curtis Spence, and his four grandchildren: Meggie, Emily, Amanda, and Ashlee as well as other family and close friends. Pete was predeceased by his parents Elmer Byrum Dakan and Nellie Elizabeth Dakan and his sister Penny Nichols.
A military service will be held on December 27, 2021, at 2 pm at Tahoma National Cemetery to honor his life and service to our country that he loved so dearly.
