Virgilio Estabaya Obituary

Virgilio Desingano Estabaya, 79, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones in Iba Zambales, Philippines. Virgilio was born on November 22, 1943, to parents Serafin and Daniela Estabaya, in Manila Philippines.

He is survived by the love of his life, Virginia, daughter, Ruth (Jerry), son, Glenn (Rachel), and his greatest joys are his grandchildren, Alexander, Jadyn, Cali, Elliana, and Samuel, great grandchildren, Alexander and Gabrielle, and sister, Linda Sangco. He was preceded in death by his parents, Serafin and Daniela Estabaya.

Following graduating from high school, Virgilio joined the U.S. Navy in 1968. Leaving the Philippines and joining his parents in Chula Vista, California. He retired from the Navy after serving faithfully and honorably after 30 years in 1998. In 1995 he began his 15-year career with the United States Postal Service in Ballard, Washington, officially retiring in 2010.

He was an active member of the Filipino American Association of North Puget Sound and member of the Wannabe Dance Group of the FAANPS while living in Everett, Washington. He loved playing the game mahjong which he still regularly played. He loved music and fast cars. His prize car was his blue 1973 Plymouth Road Runner.

Following Virgilio’s major stroke in February 2012, he and Virginia decided to move to the Philippines to get the rehabilitation he needed. Although it was a difficult decision to leave their children behind, they both found themselves surrounded by their large extended family that supported and loved them beyond measure. He also finally got his puppies he wanted - his new companions that would sit next to him and keep him company.

Services will be held at Edline-Yahn & Covington Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 10:00 am, and he will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery with full military honors as he wished. A reception for family and friends will be held at Edline-Yahn at 1:30 pm.

He was greatly loved and will be missed by his family, large extended family in the Philippines and friends he leaves behind.
